We are honored that you have come to us for your cardiovascular care. So that we can optimize our delivery of care to you, we would like to familiarize you with our practice.
Introduction: There are four physicians in the group. They are Donald Grandis, M.D., Daniel Rubin, M.D., James Shanahan, M.D., and Steven Czak, D.O.. All are University trained Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiovascular Diseases. Doctor Rubin is also boarded in interventional cardiology. Doctors Grandis, Shanahan and Czak are also boarded in Nuclear Cardiology. We care for patients from the age of 18 years old, and up. We limit the care of our patients to cardiovascular disease. We believe that other medical problems are best cared for by your family doctor or other specialists. We are able to offer a full range of services such as the care and diagnosis of Adult Cardiovascular Diseases, performance of electrocardiograms, holter monitors, 30 day event monitors, echocardiograms, pacemaker evaluations, stress tests both with Nuclear Imaging or Echocardiography, cardiac catheterizations, transesophageal echocardiograms, coronary angioplasty, and peripheral artery angiograms, atherectomy, laser, stenting, and angioplasty. We are affiliated with Jefferson Regional Medical Center part of the Allegheny Health Network.
General Recommendations: We recommend that all patients consume a low fat, low cholesterol, and reduced salt diet. All patients should avoid any exposure to all tobacco products (including second hand smoke). Alcohol consumption should not exceed more than two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women.
Everyone should exercise (by walking, biking, swimming) at least 30 minutes at a time, five times a week. You should receive the flu vaccine yearly if you have heart disease.
Office Visits. For every office visit, please bring an accurate list of all current medications, including the dosage, with you. If you are allergic to any medicine or latex, please tell us. If you have questions or concerns, please write them down as well and bring them with you to your appointment. Please bring a copy of your insurance cards and, if necessary, a referral from your primary care physician with you as well. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Each physician’s appointment times will vary.
There is a physician available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During the times that the office is closed, please limit your calls to urgent questions or concerns.
